GIBEON

One of the most famous meteorites.
The first large mass was found in 1836 in Southern Namibia, by explorers who had been very surprised to see that local aborigines had objects made of iron. Obviously they had found the meteorite first and had used it as a source of iron.
Many more masses large and small were eventually discovered over a very large area. And many are on display in a park in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia.

Classified as a Fine Octahedrite, IVA. With very clear sharp crystallization pattern.
