PLAINVIEW 1917

About a dozen stones were found in 1917 in the panhandle of Texas, south of Amarillo, in 1917, but many more have been found since. Total Known Weight: over 700 kg. but the largest mass, 102kg is in the collection of Arizona State University.

Classified as a Ordinary Chondrite H5.

2 complete masses of vastly different sizes but curiously similar shape. The largest one has a Nininger/Huss number but was for many years and until very recently in the Carion Collection.
