TRENTON

The first two fragments of this very large meteorite were plowed up in a field north of Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1858 but many more were found very close by in the following years, for a total of 13 known fragments and a total weight of over 500 kg. And one of the original finders stated in his notes that “other fragments are said to have been found which have been used by blacksmiths in the neighborhood.”

Classified as a Medium Octahedrite, IIIAB.

Only one thick slice with labels from the Mineresco Collection and from the Mull’s collection with the note “Ward Collection Number”, that number is also on the edge of the slice.
