The second largest iron found in Brazil after Bendego.
That mass of 1890 kilos was well known of the local population, but it was not excavated and transported to Rio de Janeiro until 1928. A difficult job requiring a cart drawn by 18 oxen, and a team of 30 men.
One of the very few meteorites that survived mostly unscathed the Great Fire of the Museum of Rio de Janeiro on September 2, 2018.
Acquired as a trade with Mary-Elizabeth Zucolotto and the Museum of Rio de Janeiro.
Classified as a Coarse Octahedrite IIAB.
